Barry Lane on his game again

A stunning final round 62, which included playing the opening nine holes in just 29 shots, saw English Senior Tour star Barry Lane climb up the leaderboard to finish a hugely creditable second to Pedro Linhart at the Winstongolf Senior Open in Vorbeck Germany this past weekend.

Lane, who now uses MLA Irons alongside his trusty MLA Tour putter was in fine form, rattling in seven birdies in the opening nine holes as his putter ran hot on the greens. He followed that up with three additional birdies coming home for a 10-under par total of 62, enough for him to finish second to Linhart, two clear of third place Paul Wesselingh.

The result caps a fine run of form for the former Ryder Cup star who finished tied 12th at the US Senior Open at the end of June, before finishing tied 14th in the Swiss Seniors Open prior to the event last weekend in Vorbeck.

The €30,000 prize money for second boosted Lane’s season winnings to €71,844, from six tournaments played in total. With an average tournament position of 12.17, Lane is having his most successful season ever on the Senior Tour using the new range of MLA Irons and his trusty MLA Putter.
