Bio

July 2017, Philip Golding is a Senior Tour winner once again, securing his third title at the Swiss Seniors Open.

Recorded four top ten finishes in 2015 with his best result coming in the Swiss Seniors Open where he finished as runner up in Bad Ragaz. Finished in the top five in the Senior Order of Merit for the second year running. Was consistent throughout 2014 with seven top ten finishes. After losing a three way play off at the WINSTONgolf Senior Open, he went one better in the following event by winning the French Riviera Masters for his second Senior Tour victory. Came close again with his third tied second place of the season at the Dutch Senior Open, the very next event.

The Englishman enjoyed an explosive start to his Senior Tour career in 2012, before claiming his maiden title in June 2013, overcoming some tough conditions at Royal Porthcawl with a superb closing 66 to win the Speedy Services Wales Senior Open. It was at the same tournament in 2012 that he re-wrote the record books, carding an opening round 64 to match the weekend rounds he posted the previous weekend in the SSE Scottish Senior Open – the first time a hat-trick of 64s had been achieved on the European, Senior or Challenge Tour.
However, on both occasions he missed out on the title, finishing runner up to Anders Forsbrand in Scotland and to Barry Lane in Wales. Ended the 2013 Senior Tour season in sixth position on the Order of Merit, with eight top ten finishes overall. Won once on The European Tour, claiming an emotionally charged victory in the 2003 Open de France at Le Golf National, birdieing the final hole to pip David Howell by a shot and win for the first time on his 201st European Tour outing. Prior to his victory he was famed for his record attendance at the Qualifying School and his visit in November 2007 was his 18th appearance. For the seventh time he secured his card to make a return to The European Tour. Was a promising young cricketer, who played for Middlesex Colts, but switched to golf and became an assistant at Arkley in his home county of Hertfordshire after turning professional in 1981.
