Bio

It is fair to say that Jean-Luc was a relative latecomer to the golfing scene. While some players were child prodigies at the game, Jean-Luc did not really pick up a golf club in any meaningful context until he was 13 years old.

Prior to this point he had been a keen sportsman, focusing his attention on a number of sports in his native Switzerland, but once he picked up a golf club and began to play in earnest, he soon realised that golf was the game for him.

Part of that appeal may have been how quickly Jean-Luc progressed with the game. Within a very short space of time, he was proving to be one of the best players at his local club in Switzerland and certainly one of the best golfing talents in his age group in the country.

Feeling that he needed to gain experience and education abroad to help further his dreams of becoming a professional, Jean-Luc left Switzerland in 2001 and headed to California where he had earned a golf scholarship at the University of California Santa Barbara.

He spent four years in the US, perfecting his game on the hugely competitive 1st division collegiate golfing circuit, which has been the breeding ground for several other top European professionals, such as Paul Casey and Luke Donald.

He graduated in 2005 and returned to Switzerland where he qualified for the Alps Tour immediately. He spent four years on that tour and his best performance was a 5th placed finish at the 2008 Gösser Open in Austria.

By 2010, Jean-Luc started to focus equally on being a teaching professional, as well as playing in selected events. He used this time productively to hone his skills, while learning about all aspects of being a teaching golf professional as well.

In 2013, Jean-Luc first picked up an MLA putter and began to use it in earnest. Delighted with the results, he added the putter to his bag where it has remained ever since. He has produced some excellent performances, winning once, with the putter in his hand as can be seen in his career highlights section below.

With his new found confidence on the green and keen to challenge himself to push on to his ultimate dream of playing in one of the European Tour’s most prestigious events, the Omega European Masters at the beautiful Crans-Montana golf course in July.

At MLA we’re delighted to continue our successful partnership with Jean-Luc into 2015 and beyond. We will be there when Jean-Luc realises his ambition to play on the European Tour in one of its most prestigious and spectacular events.
